Man given conditional discharge after taxi rowA 31-year-old man has been given a 12-month conditional discharge after a mix-up over a taxi led to a confrontation in a Sowerby Bridge street.
Daniel Ekis, of Cleveley Gardens, Mytholmroyd, admitted two charges of common assault arising out of the early hours incident in January.
Bradford Crown Court was told how a taxi had been called to the Rose Vale View area, but there was a mix-up over whether it was for Ekis and his girlfriend.
Prosecutor Claire Larton said Ekis appeared to lose his temper after there was an attempt to pull his partner out of the vehicle.
Miss Larton said Ekis punched the taxi driver causing him no injury, but another taxi driver who arrived at the scene suffered a minor injury behind is ear when he was also punched.
The court heard that Ekis himself had also been injured during the disturbance.
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC warned Ekis not to do anything like it again and said the conditional discharge would be a reminder not to lose his temper even when his girlfriend was being manhandled.
The judge ordered Ekis to pay £100 to the injured taxi driver Mohammed Afzal and pay £300 costs.
