Location: Used to be in Lowestoft,now escaped.
The P5b is the v8 version of the P5. The bumpers are fairly thin steel but the bumper irons are used as jacking points and are probably a lot stronger than the ones in the sills. The P5s now fetch good money,some people reckon they are a better car than the later V8 version,certainly they were better put together than the last of the P5 series as by then Leyland had taken over from Rover and the quality was fast going down the khazi.

The P5 had the L straight 6 engine, overhead inlet valves, exhaust side valves, twin SU carbs (BL owned SU)

the one to have must be the P5b Coupe (V8).....

having said that, on every one you see the weld where the front valance meets the lower edge of the front wing...

The v8 is faster,but in some ways I prefer the 6 cylinder. Quieter and smoother and the extra weight helped the steering which is very light on the v8 versions.

plus i could tune+tweak the carbs with needle settings and which oil to use in the dashpots

took me a month to find the radio, hidden as it was behind a drop down panel, and the picnic set
