hi to all.
just a quick question to find out if any other authority is the same

our local authority are proposing from the 1st august that all saloon car licenses (hackney carriage) can remain as saloon car plate as long as the license stays in the same name, obviously wiping out any black market value that they carry, because as long as you keep the license holders name the same, because if you perform a transfer of license after this date once the vehicle has reached its service life the new proprietor will have to replace it with a wheelchair access vehicle, so does any other authority have any terms and cons like these, would be grateful for any feedback

Many do in a way to increase the number of WAVs.

If the policy is adopted you have three options, appeal to the Mags Court, go to the High Court for a Judicial Review, or lump it.

If you ask me honestly what's best for you to do, I would take the lump it option.

However should you take the other two, I wish you well.

thanks sussex
does not make any difference to me due to the fact i have a WAV,
the other lads that have saloon licences would probally not stick together anyway, you could throw them all in a bucket of glue and they would not stick, but they love to moan about it, anyway happy days for now,
Also is that picture in your profile the new AMEX stadium by any chance

The issue in Weymouth was the transfer of the vehicle license, the council here aren't saying they wont transfer, they are saying that on re-license it must be a WAV.

I'd still say it was illegal from the little known Newcastle Case

If it is illegal - and I'm not sure if it is or isn't - the first one to push it will likely force the council to go 100% WAV. That is legal

I suspect that's what they have done, but given an exemption for those that don't transfer their licenses.
