Bizarre - a regular punter of mine is in Edinburgh for todays marathon - he couldn't get a hotel room in Edinburgh last night.

A simple equation CC. Lots of participants take up the budget hotel space, and get to bed early to race the following morning. And they dispossess the hen and stag nights that spend the real money in the town.

I was out socialising in and around the Grassmarket/Cowgate area last night and the place was rammed with people out enjoying the weather/football etc.

I left at 1am and walked back to Comiston area and I could have had my pick from any one of the thirty to forty empty black hacks that passed me on their way back into town. So plenty guys out servicing the public last night.

Care to comment jasbar?

Yes, there was the usual queues last night but no one would've waited and hour and a half at a rank. In fact, the ranks where clear at 4am after the usual explosion of customers when the clubs empty at 3am

Why didn't your daughter in law phone one of the major taxi firms where drivers are vetted and need to have Disclosure Scotland?

@jasbar

I am just amazed at the sillyness of you and your sad attempts at being clever. Can you answer some questions for me please?

Have you ever owned a plate
Have you ever been an owner
Have you ever employed any drivers paying you rent
If you have was your rental charge lower than others
Have you ever wrote a book and if so what was it about
Why does every point you make have to end up in a long boring diatribe usually with obsessive overtones against our democratically elected Scottish Government

If you could please answer as briefly as possible it might help me and many many others on here to begin to understand jasbar the man. Up to now you are beyond my comprehension #-o

Quite simple. They don't answer the phone.

1. I have never owned a plate. What do you think this argument is about, silly boy?
2. I have never been an owner. What do you think this argument is about, silly boy?
3. I have never employed any drivers paying rent. Neither has any owner. Because the drivers do not enjoy employed status. They have no right to holiday pay, pension provision, sick pay, or any of the other benefits of being employed. What do you think this argument is about, silly boy?
4. Superfluous question from a silly boy.
5. I have never "wrote" a book. I have however written two books. They are about equality being denied by the society we live in. They are available on Amazon Kindle and are entitled "Women 'n' Love" and "Women and Life."
6. because I don't believe we have a government that behaves according to nay democratic ideals. In fact I despise our government, I despise our Monarch who is a parasite, and I despise the fact that I no longer have any pride in being a Scot. And I despise you, because you are the scum of the earth, a spineless creature with no backbone who doesn't deserve the privilege of life.

Do you get it?

BTW When your society is under threat from external influences who would enslave you, don't come to me for protection. Because I despise you as much as your new masters will. You're on your own silly buddy

Because I'm not a stakeholder in YOUR society.

BTW2 Thanks for reminding me how infinitely superior I am to you. =D>

1. Your talking bullshit about not answering the phone as as almost every other job between 11 and 3 I was receiving radio work. Usually after I dropped off on the outskirts of town, I would get a job heading back in or someone going from from a friend or family member.

2. City and CRT have automated systems also to take bookings

3. City and CRT have mobile booking apps for phones or through a phones Internet browser

So as I said. BULLSHIT!

Yes Longwanks, you got a job on the outskirts. Great bright boy. That's why you have a radio.

But while you're languishing on the outskirts doing your radio work, folks in the city centre can't hail a cab.

And Peter 287 was sitting on his fannie in his nice wee hoose totally oblivious to the needs of the Edinburgh public who just want to get home.

And the drivers who want to operate their own cab to take them home are denied their right to do so.

And that's why I despise you Longwanks.

So are people not in town on a busy weekend night are less intitled to a cab home than those queueing on a rank?

Is your CRT neighbour not entitled to a day/night off. Maybe he was at a celebration earlier on in the day and decided to have a drink? Perhaps he was a bit ill and thought it best not to put himself and the safety of passengers at risk?

Perhaps your CRT neighbour is like me tonight. Busy bank holiday weekend but unable to work as the vehicle has a fault and is unsafe to drive

Just because a cab is parked up doesn't mean the owner has taken a shift off?

Perhaps you wouldn't last two minutes without charging a driver a stiff rental to prop up your pretendy business. Now isn't that the truth, Longshanks?

Now if there is no demand, as you claim, then why is your driver paying a rental to provide a service to a public that doesn't exist? :?

Many drivers don't want to have their own plate. Guy I share cab with used to have his own plate but gave it up. Didn't like the added pressure of repairs, servicing, repairs, tax, repairs, insurance, repairs, licensing, cab test

Some others are like Taylor and nearing retirement age and don't want to own a plate as they want a more relaxed lifestyle

What the above has to do with anything is beyond me. Now how about answering my questions?

Read what I've highlighted then come back to me.

Some guys don't want to have access to their own plate and are happy to rent.
