Hi there,
I have just joined the forum and enjoyed reading various topics.
I wonder if you can enlighten me on a forthcoming issue
A group of us have left a large Taxi company to set up on our own (breakaway group)
We know that when we go live in about 6 weeks that various drivers at our old company will bombard our new number to cause havoc in the office.

They will probably withhold numbers so we can't prove who it is,We are getting a BT phone system in and they have said they can't block withheld numbers :-(
Has anyone had experience of this and how did you deal with it?
Hoping someone can help on this
Thanks Brian

The problem with that is a lot of Hotels and Businesses withhold their numbers...

If they do ring it will only last a short while the novelty will soon wear thin imo.

Put up with it for the first month BUT keep a log of times of calls and if they were no pick ups and if there is a lot of these then hand a copy of the log to the police and the licencing officer with a complaint of harassment. Once there is the possibility of criminal charges or an investigation by the licensing team it will stop

OK, answer the calls, if its NOT a business (hotel, coach firm, etc, etc) ask for a contact number to ring them back on if its to BOOK a job as your very busy, if they give a number ring it on your mobile as you have the caller on the landline....

it should be engaged

Get a booking system with call popping and get a credit or debit card facilities in the office. If you get a hoax call for a long job ask them for payment by card, if they go ermm ermmm blacklist the number (if you can) because you'll know it's a hoax call.

Get a contact number and phone back to confirm the details, before you send a cab.
Get caller display.

As others have said, it will only be for a while until the novelty wears off.

Thanks for you help everyone,I think keeping notes etc will help but it wont be easy in a small office when we are busy :x
We know it will happen and it will be quite disruptive,I have thought along the lines of letting the Taxi inspector know this has been (promised to us) so as to pre warn and build up a stronger case.
It's not so much as taking a false booking but can you imagine on day one up to 20 drivers just simply ringing our number and hanging up between jobs, that's really going to slow our operator down and make it difficult for customers to get through quickly.
I'm sure it will die down eventually but you can see my concern.
Cheers

Dont worry, its not owner drivers on other bases that ring, they will be on your side

Other base owners might have a nose and ring for prices, hoax jobs are few and far between

But you don't have to answer them, or if you do don't send a car.

Or ask for the number to ring the customer when near.
