N reg Fairway Driver, wipers stay about a third of the way up. Have heard there is a a parking switch which helps them go back to the bottom is this correct, is it part of the wiper motor?

The park switch is located on the back of the wiper motor, its a white/clear plastic plug in.It does what it says and parks the wipers, symptoms of it going are your wipers stopping anywhere on the screen. Its the same as fitted to a classic mini, easily available for about 9/10 quid.As for returning to bottom of screen it could be the 'worm' which is the rack that turns the wiper wheel boxes getting worn. Its a more fiddly job though !

Don't forget, these wipers always stop way short of the bottom of the screen. Look at any Fairway and you'll see what I mean.

The looser the rack/worm gets the more sweep of the screen youll get,not uncommon for the wipers to go off the screen ! If everything is right they will return to a 90 degree angle, when its raining of course

Where is the wiper motor on fairway driver 95. I have read it is buried behind dash, but there is something looking a bit like a motor on nearside top back of engine compartment which is held on by a sort of metal strap and bolt each end.

Replaced parking switch on wiper motor, was very pleased at how easy it was, unfortunately now wipers don't work at all, motor just heats up.

So put back old parking switch, still wipers don't work, motor just gets hot. Have I somehow ruined it, was very careful to make sure all connections are correct.

Disconnected from blades and motor worked, so took it out and cleaned it added a bit of fresh grease, put it all back together and voila it works. Seems the "new" part I got was cr**p. Looking closely at it the little button/switch is slightly shorter than the old one. Anyway a good exercise if it ever packs up, I know I can easily replace it.

I bet there's loads of duff "new" parts being sold.
