i don't want a "cheap fix" i want some one reasonably priced and good quality of work

why? the 3rd party is at fault, get a quote of a proper approved repairer, in hours your insurer should say go ahead, you pay insurance why not claim when you lose nothing? your excess is reclaimable off the 3rd party along with all other costs and any whiplash, or if the quote is less than your excess pay for the repair, get a vat invoice, contact an accident management company and let them get all of it back in one go (that could also be a plan if you havent got NCB protection)

do you remember when you were asking how to fit a meter in your car and i said YOU dont need to know, the installer/supplier does that for you?

well this is the same

if you cough up to get a backstreet repair an an almost new car when the 3rd party is clearly at fault well more fool you mate (seriously)

all that needs repaired is a little hole in the bumper and a new PH plate, i took his insurance and personal details so if i later found out any more serious damage was done i could get the car repaired or get a whole new one, i don't want to go through mine or his insurance as for what the damage is, is it worth it? i mean a little hole and a plate, not anythine too serious i think... there is to much politics in going through insurance

As this guy started of being an arsehole, do you actually think he's going to cough up for your repairs?

If you haven't informed your insurance in a timely manner, you might just find them telling you to take a hike.

not long back (before plating your new car) you were whining about a hole for a meter being visible.....

i know, i wanted a reliable source to do such a big job, but the car did get rear ended and it came out rather un scaved, why would i go to insurance for a 5 cm hole and a cracked plate? i'm not saying i'm not annoyed, i am that a 5 month old car has already been in an accident, just don't want to go through insurance

If I hit you and a week later you said "im not going through my insurance, send me £400 to fix it and we will call it quits" id suspect you were not insured and keep my £400 till forced to cough up....

I am rather hesitant of going through insurance, if more damage had been done yes, but for what has been done i'd rather take it out my own pocket to fix rather than the hassle of going round bodyshops asking for quotes, it will get fixed soon as there is a little scrape on the passenger door, when i left it in the shop carpark on Wedensday, i came back and there was a scrape on the door and not another car near it!! so it goes in on the 8th of July for that scrape and while it is in there i will ask him to repair the bumper

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ they usually like you to report it within 48 hours maximum.

I'd make the idiot pay out of his own pocket.

this may sound daft but if the other guy claims you reversed into him your gonna be stuffed, you havent reported it, he may come up with a witness (rentawitness £50) and he will claim like mad, your asking for trouble

it may cost less than your excess and technically not be worth claiming BUT, you will recoup everyting (and whiplash) via a claim against him - as you are due for legally.

what your doing is handing him a huge favour, hes hit you and now it never happened

i am thinking of phoning him and asking him for £40 in cash to get a new plate and leave it at that, if he refuses it will be going to insurance

got a letter in from his insurance today, i phoned them and told them i have got some personal repairs getting done to the car at a reliable bodyshop on the 8th of july so if the car could get the bumper done too that would be fine, they said the car would have to go to a bodyshop of their choice and that if it did i told them i wanted to claim loss of earnings as if the car went to my bodyshop it would be in their anyways so i wouldn't bother about losing time off work. but they said the wouldn't give me any money for loss of work and i'm not claiming off my own insurance cause it goes sky high and they get the money off you anyways the next time you renew your policy. Think i'l just have to reach into my own pocket and pay for it that way, won't be too much anyways max £150 but that is pushing it

one of their places as 15 mile from me and they aren't willing to compensate my losses with the car being off the road
