Yeah, they've all got chemical weapons - out of 100,000 people killed so far - a massive 100 have allegedly died by way of chemical weapons.

Aye WMDs ??????? Where have we heard that before???????

Russia is one of the most corrupt financial countries in the world, how exactly did Putin come to be so wealthy? Is it to be the case that because of this we should back down if we believe it is a just cause to back the rebels? Lets be honest the Muslims have been fighting between themselves since the 7th century and still haven't forgiven the Christians for The Crusades ffs. That aside it's my understanding that it's a human rights problem that kicked this off, but, like everybody else I'm not 100% sure.

Yeah - that WW2 thing was just a tiff between Christian friends, so was WW1 for that matter - lets not forget the 100 years war against France - and the 30 years war as well.

Mind you the English Civil war was a religious war as well.

Damn - this greenhouse needs new glass.

Fair comment, but just as we argumentative Christian Europeans are just beginning to settle down and get along with each other many of the new Kids on the block have decided that although Britain is quite a nice place to be it would be better still without it's troublesome Christians and It's Christian infidels, On the one hand they seem to loathe us whilst on the other they seek to emulate our western lifestyle, yet they still blame us for all their Historical woes.

Its almost as if being made the subjects of a foreign power may have upset them a trifle

You reckon? surely not, Most of them are no longer under the control of the British empire so why blame us, we are not responsible for the actions of our forebears...come to think of it neither are we responsible for the actions of our Arsehole politicians who seem to do whatever they want whether we agree to it or not.

I wasn't suggesting they were exclusive in their fighting, but, theirs is a continual battle unlike the wars that you have named

Because when we left we have continually fiddled with, manipulated, supported and undermined any regime or group in these countries that wasn't pro-western.

In the mean time we have supported brutal dictatorships, turned a blind eye to human rights abuses, supplied arms, supplied advisors by way of troops and done everything in our power to ensure these countries toe the line.

So at what point do we stop apologising and making excuses for the way the world works?

If we stopped all the chicanery, pulled our troops out of foreign countries and cut off weapon's supplies to extremist groups, would the world be a safer happier place? Honestly, I'm not so sure. :?

It's a nice dream... :-|

Skull when you say 'We' do you just mean the Uk/the western world or do you mean everybody. I believe sure as eggs are eggs if we pulled out of everywhere we are somebody else would step up to the plate. Sometimes I think our small island suffers with 'little man syndrome'. I think we need to have at least a diplomatic presence in other countries because our citizens travel a lot and don't always respect the laws of the land, which in some cases can be a little silly and overly harsh imo.

As a considerate human being could you standby and watch other peoples human rights be ignored? If not at what point do you say enough is enough and suggest as a nation we step in to prevent further abuses?

I think whilst we have people who have differing opinions on this earth we will always have disagreements and I guess some of those disagreements will escalate into wars or conflicts. That is without the people who want everything their own way to amass huge fortunes at the expense of everybody or anything else.

It's a beautiful world it's just a shame that not all inhabitants are

That's exactly my point, I think War, is a part of the human condition, as is, greed, power and control. I'm not sure whether man will ever evolve beyond the point of killing each other to bring about peace. There's been wars, as long as I can remember. In fact, it's one of the first things you are taught when you are a child. :?

It could be argued that war, is a necessary evil to maintain a crude balance on a planet inhabited by humans. :?

Well think about it, if the Shia and Sunni Muslims keep knocking lumps out of each other, is it such a bad thing? Do we really want a resolution to this conflict? Is it not better just to help them massacre each other in ever-increasing numbers, with no outright winner ever being established?

It's a crude balance of sorts... :-|
