if they want to stop flagging plimping etc then they have to insist council set all fares an all have meter otherwise people choose cheapest way home regardless of risk to them

Please explain how this would work?

people get in phc knowing they shoodnt an mainly due to phc be cheaper than hack if take away price diference people then not take chance an either pre book as they shood or wait for hack

That still would not work because the price shown on any meter is the maximum that can be charged. Drivers/companys can still charge less.

I think you'll find that people get into a phv because that's what's in front of them at the time, I don't think price comes into it. Those ph drivers that take flaggers don't do it on the cheap

they dont care so long as they can get home, and in a way, they shouldnt have to...

its stupid legislation that has created the HC/PH situation, it needs ONE service only SPV (Small Passenger Vehicle) monitored by VOSA, not councils and with a single price for plates and badges, 2 plates - rank and non-rank (subject to availability)

That's one idea I put to the LC at a meeting I attended with them. One licencing system on similar boundaries to the PSV industry, supervised by the Traffic Commissioner rather than the twunts at local councils who don't have much idea about transport.

there cant be many licensed services which cause so much confusion amongst users, "is it a taxi, is it a private hire taxi, is it a cab" and the confusion is 75% down the law!

LA's insisting on fully marked up PH (some with roof lights) are adding to the problem

Proof that LA's aint got a clue ----

Of the three (the Phaeton, the 406 and the Renault traffic) tell me WHICH one is most least likely for punters looking for a ride home to flag down?

its not rocket science is it
