I think it is two zones, it really couldn't be anything else.

Well in legal terms it would hardly be surprising if it was.

So aren't different coloured plates fairly standard in zoned areas?

The Jacob's report said Aylesbury "has an almost unique vehicle licensing policy". It was this statement which prompted me to wonder what was so unique about Aylesbury? It transpires that Aylesbury is not so unique after all. What Jacob's is referring to is the nature of the Zoning. There is nothing unique in Zoning, in fact the OFT in their report said 5% of the 343 local Authorities have zoning.

The situation in Aylesbury is that they have two zones. A Central zone which consists of the Town centre zone and the zone which lies outside the town centre which I prefer to call the rural zone. The town centre zone has a restriction of 50 white plates and the rural zone is unrestricted and has 47 red plates.

According to Peter Seal the LO of Aylesbury the white plates cannot pick up in the Red plate zone and vice versa.

In their report Jacob's stated there is unmet demand in the red plate zone even though the plates are unrestricted. Yet Jacobs found no unmet demand in the white plate zone.

I trust that clears up the matter of zoning in Aylesbury.

Regards

JD

That shower wouldn't know if a licensing policy was unique if it bit them.

I think we discussed the haxby case in another thread I'm not sure what the conclusion was. Wasn't it a magistrates court decision?

There was no conclusion to the discussion, the case was held at York Magistrates, I heard at the time it was an easy case to win for the taxi firm known as Country cabs, this firm set a president so other taxi zoning area's should have no problem with taking the matter up and winning their case in a court of law or by just using a solicitor. I list below a link to which Country Cabs also won another case to be allowed to advertise on their PH vehicles the words "cabs", maybe these are the solicitors to use, as used in the Country cab case as on the link below

If anyone wants to go down this road of getting rid of Zoned Taxis in your area maybe a call to Country Cabs Haxby York, 01904 764764, the lady who runs the outfit/cab company is an ex Enforcement officer and is usually always on hand to take the call and most willing to help and put you on the straight an narrow
