Rape beast beats bid to deport him

A PAKISTANI rapist who has twice been ordered to be deported is still living in Scotland.

Ranjha-was-arrested-charged-and-convicted-following-a-trial-at-the-High-Court-in-Edinburgh- Ranjha was arrested, charged and convicted following a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Shafqat Ranjha has been fighting being kicked out of the country ever since he was released after serving six years for the horrific assault.

Yet, despite all efforts to get the 55-year-old restaurant worker on a plane, he remains in Edinburgh.

Last night, politicians said he is “mocking justice”.

He arrived in Britain in 1985 and was given “indefinite leave to remain” – allowing him to stay in the country so long as he did not break the law.

But in 1998, while working as a private hire driver, he raped a young female passenger, leaving her pregnant, after picking her up from a pub in Leith.

Jailing him for nine years, the judge, Lord Kingarth described the incident as a “prolonged, degrading and indecent attack”.

Jailing him for nine years, the judge, Lord Kingarth described the incident as a “prolonged, degrading and indecent attack”.

After being freed, Ranjha was informed of a notice to deport him and immediately began a legal fight – paid for with taxpayers’ money – to prevent it.

Only last week, at a judicial review at the Court of Session, Lord Doherty again ruled that the rapist should be sent home.

Critics say the case again highlights the shambles that is the immigration system in the UK.

Tory chief whip, John Lamont said: “This convicted rapist is mocking justice at our expense. It is regrettable that our legal system is open to such stunts as this.”
