You can get an MOT for any old bucket, if you know where to take it.

That is all that is needed in Rutland.

It would seem that you can, although the vehicle test seems to be carried out at the Nottingham City Council test facility.

A hackney cannot be tested outside its licensing area?

I think the act merely suggests the proprietor could refuse to take it

I think you are also correct? But it definitely says within the area.

50 Provisions as to proprietors (1) Without prejudice to the provisions of section 68 of this Act, the proprietor of any hackney carriage or of any private hire vehicle licensed by a district council shall present such hackney carriage or private hire vehicle for inspection and testing by or on behalf of the council within such period and at such place within the area of the council as they may by notice reasonably require:

So in the case of my stretched limousines. none of the MOT testing stations on the council list were able to test them because of their size. Should the Council have simply refused to grant a license or appoint a test facility outside the Borough which could accommodate them, i.e. Nottingham City Council. The test facility there was used by Rushcliffe and Gedling as well as Melton for the testing of limos.

All Councils should have the facility to test them. If they can get their dustbin lorries on the ramps they can get a limo on them.

I think dustbin lorries have to undergo HGV testing. We don't have any HGV/PCV testing facilities in our borough.

We used to take our minibus to Grantham but that has now closed and the Leicester site has also closed.
