Not really sure they would like one solution to this.

And they today called on licensing chiefs to put an end to the two-tier pricing structure currently operating in Blackpool.

wow some of the vehicles in that photo look less than 10 years old

seriously though we have the same problem passengers compare us to the cut price PH merchants on Peterborough fares and demand we refund the difference people cannot or will not see the difference all that matters is the price charged

There is a report going before councillors soon.

Can someone tell me why?

Bit misleading ,bit like the fares. Its not a hackney v ph thing cause the companys are mixed fleet. Its just confusing having all different start rates. What we want is the same tariffs on hackneys and if you want to be a c unt and discount do it at the end of journey ! You know how it goes, punter jumps in and says " how come your meter starts at 2.60 ,i got one yesterday that was 2.00 start" Doesnt take a lot to confuse your average customer :D

Most hack meter rates exceed what PH's charge, thats not unusual

It's strange how punters from different areas react to the same thing. We have mixed fleets and the hacks have to charge the ph rate, it doesn't cause a problem for the drivers tho. A punter could ring an operator and get into a hack and be charged whatever it clocks and the next day flag the same cab down and be charged more, no grief. Everybody knows that hacks are more expensive than ph if flagged down.

Since when has any council been allowed to set rates for PH cars? It's illegal for them to do so the same as it being illegal for ph companies to collaborate on fares under the Competition Act.

But I'm still confused as to exactly what the council can do about it. :-k
