Gay Couple 'Thrown Out Of Cab' For Holding Hands

London's biggest minicab firm Addison Lee are investigating reports one of their drivers threw a gay couple out of his taxi because they were holding hands.

The men had been picked up from G.A.Y in Soho last night.

The driver is also being accused of calling the couple an insulting name.

The passenger tweeted: "Just been ejected from an @AddisonLeeCabs taxi for being gay. Thanks for the homophobic treatment.

"My BF and I got into a taxi from G-A-Y Late. Started holding hands and were told to get out, and called dirty.

"Thank you to everyone for your messages of support, they mean a lot. We're home now, after a very nice black taxi journey."

Addison Lee have suspended the driver concerned while an investigation takes place. A statement read: “We are aware of an incident involving an Addison Lee vehicle in London last night. This incident is being investigated thoroughly, and the driver has been suspended from duty while the investigation takes place. We are also in contact with the customer to understand more about what happened.

"Addison Lee does not tolerate any form of discrimination. We pride ourselves in delivering the highest possible level of professional service, and we take matters like this very seriously."

Could all be resolved in minutes with CCTV.

One wonders why multi-million turnover AL haven't invested.

Presumably the job was pre-booked?

If the guy had an issue with picking up gay people from a gay club - why did he accept the fare?

There's nothing wrong with gay people. I'd sooner have 4 of them in the motor than 4 p!ssed up yocals.

As long as they keep their hands to themselves and don't start the dare nonsense of trying to get the one sitting in the front to touch up the driver

Is Gerald Ratner still around? Perhaps they could employ him as a PR consultant?

Quote:
Following an unsuccessful attempt to become a jewellery consultant in France during the mid-1990s, he set up a health club in Henley-on-Thames in 1996, which was sold for £3.9m in 2001. Ratner now runs, in collaboration with SB&T International Ltd, an export manufacturing company based in India and the online jewellery business Gerald Online.[8] Recently on his visit to India for the inaugural eTailing India Expo, Gerald Ratner announced that he would be entering the Indian market.
