There's two elements here. First you have the right to be your own serf, to prostitute yourself as a slave for the benefit of the slavemasters who control the tools of your/our trade.

Second, if you had to enter an agreement with anyone who "financed" your training, you're bound If you didn't understand this, then you are too stupid to be a cabby (can't believe I'm saying this, because all cabbies are inherently stupid; it's the one qualification you need to do the job, to be the servile happy slave that a cabby is).

What did you sign?

I said in the opening post that IF they dont have a car for me can i go and drive elsewhere, if you cant read that properly then maybe your the one that is stupid.

I am aware of what i signed up for and have no issues with that whatsoever,I am also now acutely aware now that Dundee is being flooded with new drivers like myself, mainly through 203020, and that they may not be able to supply me with car. Hence the original question of if they cant provide me with a vehicle can i go elsewhere.

Is that a bit clearer "Stupid"

George, pay no attention to Jasbar. For a start he doesn't work in Dundee. He was an edinburgh taxi driver but over the last decade of trying to ruin (and failing miserably at every turn) the cab trade.

He's just a sad petty man that has nothing better to do than troll these forums and hurl abuse

You could get a car anywhere you liked if they cant provide one for you. Just bear in mind how you drive it though as operators looking for drivers can be picky and choosey on who they want to drive for them. If you gonna drive like the typical weekend numpties, then you not gonna do yourself any favours when you want a car in the future! Operators do watch the other taxi drivers, and if we dont like their manner of driving then they are remembered, and in the future, a big NO when they ask for a car. Welcome to the "trade" anyway, and as you said, gotta be better than the brew, JUST, lol :D

George

First of all welcome to the trade and hopefully you will do as well as you hope :D
Although I am based in Edinburgh and not where you are if you need a friendly bit of advice please mail me and I will help out if I can. The vast number of people on here are very helpful but there are a few exceptions. I do like your first post re jasbar. You have dealt with him exactly as we all do. He is not worth bothering about.
Take care and all the best :)

hi George and welcome to the trade,
I know a few drivers who left before their year was completed, they were asked for the £1200 and a certain individual did keep phoning them but they didn,t pay and nothing came of it,if you do leave early and get the phone calls make an official complaint to the council, all management/directors are governed by the recent office licenses, you may end up getting punted onto a private hire vehicle ,try to avoid this,i drive a hack and I am only making money on fri/sat,most of my earnings on these two nights is pickups off the street,i have started to keep track of my earnings regarding office work/pick ups and will have to have a serious think in the next few months wether its worthwhile paying £85 a week in fees ,another thing you will find is there is a bit of a stigma with 203020 drivers ,both hack drivers and the general public shun them, some of the older hack ops don't talk to them, some don't even talk to the wav drivers, but most ops/drivers will talk to you, you will experience the public walking past you on a rank within the first week of starting this is guaranteed, I was at a party recently and was introduced as a taxi driver, before I could open my mouth someone piped up (I got picked up by one of those 203020 drivers last week and you should have seen the way he tried to take me)im sure you will have heard similar statements if you know regular taxi users in dundee,to put a fine point on it the 203020 taxi company is a joke to the general public, god knows why teles merged with them, they have certainly lost a lot of customers due to it.

on another note there has been a change at teles regarding their credit work,in the old handys you got a choice to do credit work or not, there was also no fee for doing this work, teles bought over handys and a £5 a month handling fee was introduced, some ops decided to stop doing credit work(one guy did a £6 job in one month went up for his credits and got a pound coin)last sat when logging on we had a message(from the 2/09/13 refusing to do credit work will no longer be an option)
in Dundee you have to wait 3 months to receive your credits is this the same in other towns ?

No. The larger companies here pay out the following week.

3 months? There'd be a mutiny if they tried that

Most of the lads down here hate the idea of waiting a week, three months is totally unacceptable.
