You will also need to carry a calibrated torque wrench as well.

Can't say I've ever needed one.
Tyre places tell you to come back and re-tighten after a couple of hundred miles anyway.

Wheel nuts are supposed to be tightened to a certain torque. To loose and they may come undone, to tight and the threads may stretch and then shear off. This is why you are supposed to have them checked after 200 miles.

Do you check all of yours every 200 miles?

You don't have to check them every 200 miles. You have to check them 200 miles after the wheel has be put back on.

im about 19 stone, the bars a foot long, i make that .... 266 lb/ft or 360 n/m

is that enough?

5 nuts = 1330 lb holding the wheel on, if that comes off it will have a hub, strut and half shaft attached to it

This is where you are going wrong. It is not that you need to put all that force into tightening the wheelnuts. That is just as dangerous as not enough. It has to be correct. #-o

I would think they don't have them but I don't know.
We are looking at a new car at the moment and it doesn't come with a spare. You can have an "emergency" spare wheel at a cost of £90.00.

even bigger savings!

no wheel, jack or wrench, about £100 saved per car over a space saver, maybe £250 over an alloy

and a boost to the after market sales of jacks, wrench, wheels

so what do you do at 3am, with no spare and no phone signal?...
