Like the young bloke near me who has just got a motability car, then openly advertised the fact on his bookface page that he's going to operate as a taxi (unlicenced) to give his mates cheap lifts to and from the pub. Pity his page is only accessible to his friends or the LO would have been onto it by now.

We have a couple here doing the exact same, It is Mobility for all as far as they are concerned, the Difference is that We give them the Car for nowt yet they charge their mates for the privilege of being driven in their free car.

Same old same old. "I knew a guy who..." means every one else is taking the pi$$ and justifies making a couple of million people fair game.
Sad feks.

I've got to agree with Gus on this one, the whole Mobility scheme is a scam.

Where our rank is just across the road are some parking bays for disabled people, there's some who pull up there and run up the steps into the shopping centre.

On Friday I clocked one so called disabled driver carrying a 42inch TV from Argos down the steps and put it into his 4 wheel drive Nissan which had a blue badge in the front window.

Why should they get cars free of charge which are funded by the taxpayer while the tax payer slogs their guts out?

They get free insurance, free road tax, free tyres, free servicing etc etc.

It's being abused and needs stopping ASAP.

How do you know his 4x4 is a mobility car?
How do you know the guy driving it is the blue badge holder?

Mobility cars and blue badges are often used and abused by their carers/family etc

Blue badges can only be used by the blue badge holder. If they are not in the vehicle, the badge can't be used.

Ermm you didn't say you knew him, or say how you know his 4x4 is a mobility car? or if it even belongs to him for that matter.

It's his car, it's parked on his drive at his council house on the Carsic Estate, he's never done a days work in his life. There's no way he can afford a £20K motor or have one on the chuckie.

Well if it's that obvious that he's swinging the lead, why hasn't he had his benefits removed and been declared fit to work? Plenty have been lately and died shortly afterwards.
You could always have taken pictures of him with the plasma telly and sent them to the DWP.

All of which is rather avoiding the point.

I don't doubt for a second that some people are abusing the system. They are a minority and should be weeded out.
It's easy to do what the Mail (and some of you) are doing. Post a few examples of people taking the pi$$, then imply that most or all are doing the same. It's just bollocks.

Not every car used by the disabled is a mobility car.
Most disabled people do not qualify for one, even before the current government started their witch-hunt.

The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair by exchanging their Government funded mobility allowance . If you receive either the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA), the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP) , the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) you may be eligible to join the Motability Scheme.
    http://www.motability.co.uk/understandi ... igibility/

Not every disability is immediately obvious to the casual observer.
I have a friend who looks quite fit but he can't walk 20 feet without having a coughing fit and turning blue. Years of inhaling asbestos when he worked in the building trade.
As an ex miner Nidge, you must know a few people with similar lung diseases?

My point is that all disabled people are being demonised by this bloody government with the help of their friends in the media.

And you lot are buying it hook line and sinker.

Three issue that need redressing

Motability cars
Blue badges
Free road tax for the "disabled"

I have NO problem when a disabled person gets help, but when its obviously a family member, fit and alone in a car using it and the blue badge parking in disabled bays I do get a bit cheesed off

Go to Tesco or ASDA and watch em skipping across and coming out with a fully laden trolley...
