exactly that - a compliance certificate, but it was 15 years ago, none of this VOSA online database malarky and always taxed the car in the town where it was based and tested

Yep, I show the compliance cert, it carries a statement that the car is MoT exempt providing it has the compliance cert. I can't tax the car online with a compliance cert though.
