Good point, there's going to be loads of people made redundant when it comes in, especially in warehousing.

Great if you're the employer.

Sack employee one day, saving the cost of his wages, NI etc etc.
Get a replacement the next day, paid for by the state and at no cost to you.

What a jolly wheeze!

Pay off everyone and get the state to supply free labour to replace them all.
Hell you might even get the same workforce back again

What do you mean 'when it comes in' it's already in, that's what kick started the retrospective laws earlier this year.

its state imposed slavery - its workhouses without the workhouse and any politician should see through the guise.

of course, all those wanting it, because the unemployed are feckless should consider their state handouts - be they energy supplements which will arrive to pensioners in the next month or so - or their state pension - perhaps these kindly Mail readers who are so enthused by the scheme should also be included in the courses?

Of course all the unemployed do is make babies and appear on Jezza

Personally I think if there are jobs out there for the unemployed to do (on workfare) they should be properly employed doing them

I am not a great believer in getting something for nothing but we have a law in this country regarding minimum wage. So if the unemployed are going to have to do some kind of work for their money, which I do agree with, then that work must attract at least the minimum wage.

There are jobs out there but, what's the point going to work for £200 a week when you can rinse £400-£500 a week on the sausage role?

Those receiving those kind of benefit payments probably won't be affected by this. Lets get this in perspective tho because there is a culture of people who think that all our financial problems are caused by the unemployed, it is government policy to have at least 2 million unemployed workers available, if there wasn't we'd all be getting better paid. Unemployment benefit is less than 3% of overall costs to the government and the other associated benefits are still available to low income families. Clearly something needs to be done about the long term unemployed, but, once again the majority are paying for the minority. Perhaps you'd like to see those able to drive freely trained, licenced and set to work offering their services as free taxis to those on low incomes

If you've got 3 kids you'll get £270 per week in child tax credits, add on income support, child benefit, free rent, free council tax, free prescriptions etc etc and you've got the thick end of £500 per week.

Or working for their benefits through some of the big operators such as Addy Lee? Be careful what you wish for. #-o

How many of the drivers on here would think it's a good idea if their manor were suddenly flooded out with hundreds of workfare cabbies? Or do they think workfare's a fine idea, so long as it's someone else's living that's going to get trashed?
That's the trouble with this sort of jingoistic bullshit. It's sounds good in soundbytes and it's popular with the hard of thinking. When you look past the spin you see this shite for what it really is. FFS

Dunno if you two are jesting or being serious - sadly I fear it would be the addy lee option
