Taxi Driver Online

One of the drives was in a smash yesterday and his Octavia 59 plate has some hefty damage on the drivers side front, some woman pulled out in front if him and he had no time to brake, he doesn't own the car he drives for someone so luckily he has got a replacement Octavia for time it takes for the smashed octy to get fixed, but he had a women in the back of the taxi at the time of the accident, luckily no one was hurt but both cars aren't looking the best, I got the hire to pick the women up from the scene of the accident and take her to her final destination, but he wants to know can she be classed as a witness for the insurance claim as she was in the back of the taxi ? As the women driver says it's his fault but she pulled out in front of him?

best of luck with it - some f*cking idiot woman side swiped me, then had a head on with a transit van - end result, she cant remember hitting me - so I lose my no claims and my insurance goes up 50% - and I still pay the excess!

I think so long as she is not related work or relative wise i.e an independent witness - then they will probably accept her as a witness.

Anyone who saw and/or was involved in the accident is a witness, and should make a statement saying what they saw/did.

I'm just very surprised the taxi driver didn't have a number of fellow taxi drivers also witnessing the accident.

Passengers in the cab are classed as independent witnesses

Mine wasn't when I had a wingmirror clash last year other bloke claimed I lost my no claims but they wouldn't accept my passenger as an independant witness he withdrew his claim after I had renewed with a different insurer but I was told that even though the passenger had no connection other than being a customer he was deemed to be a "biased witness" and therefore of no use

Drove into Morrisons today and lone behold the damaged octy was sitting in the taxi bay good as new, turns out the guy who owns it has a good few taxis and his own independent garage, so he just went and got a new bumper, wing and bonnet sprayed them white and stuck it back on plus a new radiator and wheel, insurance is now been left out, sounds a but fishy to me, although he never had his seatbelt on so the pre tensioners and airbags didn't deploy

The passenger won't be independent if one of those ambulance chasing legal firms get hold of her.

Just because a witness isn't classed as independent doesn't mean they can't make a statement.

It's just a judge will take the reason why they are not independent into account when making his decision.
