DHL and Parcel Force have trained LGV licensed drivers, both operate a fleet of new vehicles with drivers that are highly trained.

Taxis in London are the highest regulated and trained drivers anywhere in the world.

Minicab drivers get a license from their Kellogg's packets . . . in Poland . . . or Zambia

We're a public hire, they're a private contract with fixed prices.

That's why I'm confident TFL will fight it to the death . . . and win.

I accept that Taxis in London are heavily regulated, but in respect of the highest trained drivers "I'm assuming this is referring to the Knowledge" which I am aware is a fantastic feat to achieve, but seriously are you trying to tell me that all London Taxi drivers are physic " They can forecast traffic/accidents/breakdowns on route" the latest sat nav systems include live traffic updates, re-routing the driver to avoid trouble spots, ensuring that the travelling PUBLIC are transferred from A - B expediently as possible. Technology is a useful tool.

Tell you what Ray, you stick to your place in Yorkshire, I'll stick to London.

If you think your sat nav beats my Knowledge, I'll see you down here run off your feet like I am.

Baaaa.

Or is it meeeeeah?

No worries GBC I've got no intentions of moving south, however it is the sort of response I expected.

The issue as was first raised still exists, is it legal to restrict the trade of licensed vehicles, the local politics between HC v PH in London is irrelevant.

Just a thought but possibly the Equalities Act could come into play.

Like I said CC, technology is a useful tool, no matter how well you know an area, very few if any are physic!!!!

Taxi or Mini Cab in some parts of the country it makes little difference. Both are included in the regional transport policy as an integral part of the local transport infrastructure. Both need to co exist, they have differing customer bases and should have the option of using bus lanes (especially) when carrying fare paying passengers.

At last we have have a sensible reply, and both types of vehicles carry disabled passengers, so by allowing only hacks would be against the DDA.

And how many London minicabs are wav?

Better still, how many London Minicab drivers speak more than 6 words of English?

And if it was against the dda, which its not, have a guess at how many of Griffins multi million pound law team would have thought of that by this stage in the proceedings?

Go on . . . :D

There are less than 1% of the travelling public use wheelchairs, disability comes in many forms.

In relation to the communication skills of London minicab drivers surely that's a LTO issue

Strangely Capt 80% of Clack Cabs in London nowadays can be observed with sat nav stuck to their windscreens. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

and of course remember plenty of Drivers rent out the sherbert to unlicensed drivers along with the tin badge ..........my source of info........i think you can guess :D

I've used one for 11 out of the 12 years I've been cabbing, and I use it on just about every job I do. Before that I'd have to get the A-Z out for every job.

I'm not lazy, stupid or a bad cabby - I just have a terrible memory ! I know the major roads and all the restaurants, pubs etc, I can even tell you which area within the borough each street is, but when it comes to the exact location (is it the third or fourth turning?) I hardly ever know.

Thing is once I know where the exact location is I know how to get there without using the sat-nav, so I'm only using the sat-nav to look up where the street is, not to tell me how to get there.

EU judge to TfL - Why don't you allow licensed London PH in your bus lanes.

TfL to EU judge - Sir we don't think they have enough geographical knowledge to be able to use those bus lanes.

EU judge to TfL - Who sets the standards for licensed London PH then?

The issue remains and I await for the final outcome, if tfl lose it will set case law. Numerous LA's will definitely come under fire.

That's ok 'ray' I aim to please.

Enjoy your week......and sat nav.

Perhaps you could offer your learned services to John Griffin, as you seem to have such vast experience of the law and future as yet undecided judgements. He doesn't pay too well, but set the navie for William Rd NW1 and see what's on offer?

Keep out of my bus lanes though, don't want you hindering my progress.

No worries GBC, the only reason I'd be in one off your bus lane is as a tourist in a black cab.
