I was talking to him again last night. He actually followed my advice and spoke directly to the licensing officer and got told exactly the same as the email that I recieved and he just said to me "There is no way that I will be leaving the topsign and plates on the car if I am out with the family. It's my car."
So I think I will just have to leave him to it.

In a way you can see his point, for many the car is the family transport, and its only really his own LO who will notice.....

And that's why the LC have recommended the law is changed to allow wife/husband to drive a licensed vehicle in a social and domestic context.

Great, so the unlicensed wife goes out in the car and one of her friends is waiting for her to pick her up. She sees the car coming and puts her arm up to attract the unlicensed wife's attention. The unlicensed wife stops and picks her up. How is that going to look to other taxi drivers or licensing enforcement?

They will report it to the LO who will inform them not all drivers need to be badged

simples

Yes isn't it. But the person waving at the car may not be a friend, they may be a punter and it is an illegal pick up. both would look the same.
