I suspect he does, via bonds.

Its a pretty lame argument to keep the tory mantra of" look who got us into this mess".

It's not a mantra, it's a fact.

Gordon Brown and his mate Ed Balls where just two of the New Labour mob who tarted themselves around the city recommending the city come up with new ways to make money. I remember the speech, it's on youtube somewhere.

But it's not just those politicians and those banks that are at fault, it's the millions of people who took out loans they could never repay, including 110% mortgages.

Blaming Labour is like asking" how long is a piece of string" ,theres a world recession and whoever did or caused it its happened.Funny i seem to remember the torys fully supporting the deregulation of banking ?

I could be corrected! As for world wide, it seems to be the good ole U.S of A.............and then there is the EEC, but no real mention of the rest of the world excepting Japan who have apparently been in a mess for a long time. The EEC is in one heck of a mess - and yet there are those who do not belong to it...........still want to join!

Put it another way........would you put your hard earned cash into a company that has next to no chance of paying its debts back OR a business that is more or less bankrupt!? Supposedly intelligent leaders want to do exactly that - so what is in it for them? To me it is on par with one of the "Bond films".......they aim to take over the world by drawing other leaders into the "Club", and are getting away with it!

I couldn't say what it means but I do know that there were a hell of a lot more people out spending money last week than I have seen for at least 3 years. There was definatly a feel good factor about town.

I cannot see as to why "Spain" of all countries are out of the so called recession.

Has their unemployment gone down from the astronomical height that it was? Have tourists returned in their droves? What has changed?

Perhaps they get the same BS that we get...................in Spanish!

You have to read this article in "Total", sure the headline says out of recession........but read the article. They are nowhere near out of it..................government/media BS.

Quote:
SPAIN is finally out of recession – even though the financial crisis continues.

Estimated figures from the Bank of Spain say the country's GDP grew by 0.1 per cent over the summer months.

But it remains at 1.2 per cent below figures for the same period in 2012.

And the growth announced – the first in two years – occurred over the months of July, August and September, when Spain's economy usually shows a dramatic change from the winter due to the influx of tourists.

The Bank of Spain, however, claims this return to growth is the result of an improvement in the export market in the third quarter of 2013 and economists from the consultancy Arcano calls the country an 'export powerhouse'.

Arcano says private investment and consumer spending will increase in 2014 after consistent falls since 2011, and levels of credit will stabilise.

The firm predicts Spain will be fully out of recession by some time in 2014.

As yet, however, the Bank of Spain's calculations have to be confirmed as they are not official.

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) will issue a report on Gross Domestic Product levels on the last day of October, covering its growth – or otherwise – between July 1 and September 30.

Despite what economy minister Luis de Guindos claims – that this is just the first step towards better times and that the country's public finance, competitiveness and credit levels are 'completely different' from a year ago, unemployment remains at nearly 27 per cent and poverty is increasing.

Doctors across Spain warn that future health problems will be rife, particularly among badly-fed children as they grow into adulthood and among those who cannot afford the drugs needed to keep them in a good condition, as a result of the cutbacks.

Opposition leader Alfredo Pérez-Rubalcaba (PSOE) says 'the worst is yet to come' and reminded the PP government that 22 per cent of the population are living in actual poverty.

Bank data has revealed that in the Comunidad Valenciana alone, 30 homes a day are repossessed.

Jobless figures among the 30-and-under age-group are nearly 60 per cent and the number of long-term unemployed residents has increased nearly fivefold since 2008.

And the international Red Cross has announced that it will have supplied 40 million kilos of food – just less than a kilo per member of the population – to Spain in aid by the end of 2013.

Spain are in the brown stuff. Many Brits who lived out there have come back home because they can't afford to live out there anymore..

Lets get back onto the Ineos topic, people need to realise that Ineos do not need to negotiate with anyone. They have said they need to change the terms and conditions of employment at the plant, if that does not happen then it won't be worth keeping a loss making plant open and it will close. There's nothing the union can do about that apart from accept the terms .UNITE need to realise that picking a fight with a loss making company will only end with it closing.

The Brits moving back is nothing to do with what is happening in Spain and more to do with what happened here. The exchange rate fell right back so that people who were on a fixed pension were getting less Euros for their money. The cost of living in Spain is very low compared to the UK.
