Surely as long as the car has insurance, tax and mot, all bulbs work, the car drives and stops and sas nothing hanging off you'll be fine. These guys are driving examiners not mechanics. I highly doubt they'll be checking tyre pressure etc.
Try taking a D1 test......
Cant be a self drive hire 17 seater, even though you can hire 1 and have D1 101 on your licence as the test requires you show L plates, its illegal to show L plates if you have a licence for the vehicle....
I passed my D1 in an "L" plated Coif certificated Minibus with a Vosa Operators Licence on the screen...so That was a real for H&R Minibus I guess.
Yet I know a company that seems to switch their couple of Minibuses from being Hire or Reward use Licensed minibus use and Self drive use..How does that work??
Others have full 16 Seaters that are Hire and reward Minibuses one minute whilst permanently adorned with a PH 8 seater LA plate on them..Fair enough that they remove 8 of those Seats for The PH Driver who has not a D1 License, Either way though it means that the PH should really be removed whilst in 16 seat mode or it means that even in 8 seat mode the vehicle is still for all intents and purposes a D1 Coif and Vosa Plated 16 seat Minibus???
Does any government body really really know what the laws are on these vehicles, it seems so opent to abuse it's beyond a Joke.
