just to let you know that portsmouth hackney plate holders have just paid the council to have there own survey done by an independant company to prove that there is enough hackneys in the city to meet demand, the survey cost in the region of £26.000, they added this to the yearly fees.

looks like the pompy drivers are trying to protect their plate values. not doubt it will show no unmet demand, as the survey usually ends up showing whatever the person paying for it wants it to show.

depending on what vehicle
saloons around £25.000 - £31.000
D plates £15.000- £27.000 depending on age taking in to account the age limit in portsmouth for a euro cab and tx is 8 years after which you get 2 years of extentions but you have to have 6 monthly plate tests. Then you have to buy brand new.
saloons have 6 year life with 2 year extensions having a plate test every 6 months. but you can buy a vehicle no more than 2 years old

I think Aqua are aking care of any unmet demand quite comfortably.

Wouldn't be surprised if they were paying for the report

From November 2004 I had Portsmouth plate values at 25 grand but perhaps you could tell us what the difference is between the two or more types of plates leaving out the reference to vehicles as vehicles have no bearing on what a plate is worth?

Regards

I think one type is a 'must have WAV' plate, and the other is a 'not a WAV in a million years' plate. :?

A lot of the time they now use video cameras, and a lot of the customer consultations are done over the phone.
