This morning one of the kids on my school run asked me if he could use his vaping thingy in the car. I said that he couldn't but this sparked a bit of a discussion. It seems that kids are now starting to use these instead of starting to smoke. It is seen as cool to be using one.
Anyone else noticed this?

He didn't say if had been a smoker he just said that kids are using these things instead of smoking. The cost seemed to be the main thing.

I hope you being a responsible adult and the kid being under 18 you confiscated it, only to hand it to the head when you arrived at the school

As he's under 18, I'd say no.

Is he allowed to use it in the school?

Vaping is intended for current adult smokers , that wish to continue enjoying their nicotine habit at a reduced risk.

Vaping utilizes a Propylene Glycol or Vegetable Glycerin based liquid, mixed with small amounts of nicotine and food grade flavoring that then get vaporized in a small battery powered atomizer, Simulating the experience of smoking. The vapor created is inhaled and exhaled much like cigarette smoke hence the term “VAPING” as opposed to “SMOKING”

No wonder I had an allergic reaction when a customer started using one in my cab these people are basically "smoking" antifreeze !!!

I would have thought that the liquids used in these should be subjected to the same rigourous testing as medicines which I doubt has happened

There are about 4 or 5 news story about them but listen to the second one where they are encouraged to use them in hostpitals

Don't be a knob. #-o
The PG and VG used are both pharacutical grade.

If you are allergic, you'd better not take any cough mixture

You'd better not eat anymore sweets or chocolate then.

I resent your unfounded assumptions but I'm a big boy and I'll get over it.
I stand by what I said and I withdraw nothing. If you were allergic to anything found in eliquid, you'd be unable to take cough mixture, many sweets, cakes or chocolate products.
TBH if you think being told not to be a knob is offensive, you're in the wrong job. You need a much thicker skin.

The point is there is no need for this language this is a debate not a slanging match just because I am the only member on here who believes vaping is not as safe as the manufacturers would have you believe does not justify the language end of

Anf for the record there was a joint Swedish/US study published in 2010 which established that Propylene glycol DOES cause asthma and allergic reactions so my "assumptions" are NOT unfounded

As I recall, you didn't even establish what your passenger's device was, nor what it contained.
You just made an unfounded assumption then went off on one about it.

You were being a knob and you still are.
