Minicab price comparison app, Minicabster receives $2m in funding



The company has seen a 250 per cent growth in the last year with more than 200,000 active users.

The London based minicab price comparison and booking service, MiniCabster, has received $2 million in funding to re-brand and expand in the UK.

The funding came from a number of sources including David Buttress, CEO of Just Eat, Daniel McPherson, founder of Launcha, and Tom Singh, founder of New Look.

The company began in 2011, and has this year seen a massive 250 per cent year-on-year growth compared to 2012. Minicabster now has more than 200,000 active users and represents over 10,000 licensed minicabs.

Unlike other cab-finding apps, Minicabster focuses solely on mini cabs, finding the best deals, and the quickest responses.

Brooke Pursey, founder of Minicabster, said: “We offer a Minicabster guarantee to provide customers with high quality and peace of mind. All minicabs on on our system are fully licensed and the drivers are all regularly vetted by our team.

“Unlike any other minicab app we give our customers a 30 per cent refund on their fare if the car is more than 15 minutes late.”

Thanks to the funding, the company plans on expanding out of London into Manchester and Birmingham, as well as rebranding from the former Anycabs title to Minicabster.

If it's such a good product why does it need the Extra funding? and What's in it for them that's Supplying the Extra Funding? And why's it in $ anyway if it's in the UK?

I guess that depends on whether or not the company that provides the late vehicle is penalised in the same way :wink:
