I'd definitely have a crack at driving someone elses car first. Try a local ph firm. If you're lucky then u will find someone who will take u on. Although due to insurance prices skyrocketing in recent years there aren't that many with 'any driver' policies anymore.

I definitely feel that the money aint worth the unsociable, late hours (take a sat night off and u may aswell take the entire week off), but I do it as i like the fact that i dont have to answer to anyone. If i want to finish early, etc then there's no one giving me stick for it.

He's got his own vehicle, it's got to be cheaper to licence that than to rent one :?

I meant doing split bag, or half bagging as known round here.

Licensing own vehicle is likely to be at least 1k once plate fee and insurance deposit accounted for.

My bad, it was 267 quid for a year, including 2 mot tests. The other 100 was my badge, a year also.

Sorry should have elaborated. Its 80 quid just for nights, 4pm till 5am. U could 7 x 13 hours if u wanted too and no doubt some do. Its 130 if u want both day and night.

I am busy during the day and also dont like the traffic hence i stick to evening and nights

Most of our staff were on 16hr contracts but we did a lot more. double shifts as many as we wanted a week really including rest days. Now the work has been outsourced to the private sector as they are cheaper. So now we get our contracted hours only, with travel it adds about 3hr to that total. ( I am a council worker). Big shock to the bank account.

Got my driven route test on the 3/12 at 17.30 what kind of time is that!!! Bit worried about this one.
I did pass my written knowledge, DSA driving test first time though.

Your inexperience may make your experience quite stressful but you got to do what you have got to do right? I do wish you all the luck in the world and sorry you have entered the trade at the present state.

:D

This about sums it all up!
At this point if I have to work 10hr to make £20 I am gonna have to.
