I don't think you have all the correct info either mate, I doubt you practise law & even they don't know what's what at times, as law is a complicated matter. What's clear to me is that according to my council I did nothing wrong and that enforcement officers/police/vosa have nothing to do with a ph driver that left his licence and in doors, hence they didn't fine or even warn me, trust me they would have done if they could as they were not the lenient type. I was still legal to drive the bloody thing :)

I withdraw that comment I made, it's up to their legal team to advise on interpretation of national acts they have to follow. My job is to do what I was advised to do by my local authority. If they got it wrong, then I am sure in time it will get sorted. At the moment it remains a loop hole of sorts, not the first time this happened. Btw one of you said his badge's been hanging in his cab for last 25 years, hopefully he has a written consent for it to be there and not on his clothing :)

I was after a debate, I forgot that forums are infested with ppl that wish everyone to share THEIR personal point of view.

It seems to me you have 3 pages of debate and I could be wrong but I haven't spotted anybody yet calling you f**king idiot, which, shows me it's a good natured debate

Another thing comes to mind, I thought that in the UK we don't have to carry IDs. Many times I drive without a wallet which holds my driving licence, if that's acceptable, then it can't be a big deal when one is asked to produce one and he doesn't have any :)

except if asked by a police officer to prove who you are they can detain you for the purposes of identification

so a D/L and a Badge are ideal

as is often said, only someone with something to hide has anything to worry about

I was always under the impression that we are supposed produce our driving licence when asked for it by the police
