Does the NTA have a regional representitive who covers Leics? If so what are the chances of getting a visit from them to discuss the benefits of our newly formed association joining?

Just go on the NTA website.

Been there. I can only find a link to 4 areas but no details of where those areas are and you need login details to enter.
I also looked at the contact page and it says that unless you are a member, don't call. #-o

The National Taxi Association is fully funded by member subscriptions, applications for membership are available on the tab titled 'Join'.

The majority of calls we receive are from non members - who are in need of advice or advice on the ‘promise of membership’ (to be more correct) - calls are often received out of office hours - these are not answered - our hours are 9 to 5 Mon to Fri (except for members).

Before you try to contact us please be aware that apart from press queries - we are not really in the business of offering free advice - our paying members have directed us in this. Experience has sadly shown in the past - when we have given 'free' advice - even forwarding court cases and suchlike - neither membership or even a polite 'thank you' is given.

If you require legal advice we suggest you contact Road Law Barristers, Travis Morely, James Button Solicitors or Sintons LLP - all contact details are available on our website.

Therefore, unless you're a paid up member - please don't contact us!

I suspect the NTA has been mugged by many in the trade, so the pay up or f*** off message is there for good reason.

Give the chap a ring in the morning - Sussex is right tbh - I spend more time dealing with non members wanting free information than paid up members - hence the polite notice, please be aware of the following transcript as it explains what I face daily;

Caller: Hello Wayne its Tony from Wakefield

NTA: Hi Tony, you’re still not a member

Caller: Yeah I know mate, I’m still trying to get the lads organised, y’know.

NTA: Alright

Caller: Anyway mate, what’s that law that makes it illegal for a private hire office to open next to a taxi rank

NTA: There isn’t one.

Caller: There isn’t one? You sure?

NTA: Yeah, reasonably sure, the office would need planning consent usually, so you got to keep your eye on the local paper and put an objection in – or phone up the planning department and ask them.

Caller: Your not a solicitor are you.

NTA: No, I’m not.

Caller: Do you know a solicitor that specialises in taxi laws and who’ll give us proper advice?

NTA: Well I don’t know any solicitors who’ll give you free advice like I just have, but if you want to spend a couple of hundred pounds to be told exactly what I’ve just told you – then there’s three box adverts on the left hand side of the NTA website.

Caller: Oh ok thanks I’ll give them a try, bye.
