You are right, the OP has up to three years to make a claim. By not telling them you would invalidate your insurance..........the OP could come after you for damages/injury claim.



I think it's just another money making scheme by your insurers. I'd check they haven't put it on a database so all the other insurers see that you've reported and accident.

To say that I am ticked off is putting it mildly - I Googled this and it and find that it has happened to others.

It was raised on "This is money", it would seem that the "Mail on money/whatever" took up their case with the insurers - they got their money back plus a small amount of compensation.

At the moment I am appealing the insurer decision, failing that I am thinking of using the "Small claims court" as it will take another 4 years to get back where I should be My loss over that period of time would be around 3k, (the maximum) you are allowed to claim from "Small claim Court"

I told them as a matter of principal that I would take my business elsewhere - I was told that my reduction in no claims would follow me!

The police are not the ones that matter where blame is concerned. The fact remains that the OP could still try to make a claim and then you are in the [edited by admin]. The insurers will say that by not telling them you have covered up a material fact so the insurance is not valid. You would be left to find the money to fight the spurious claim, which could be thousands.

and how would you check nige

the fact is every report is logged on a database available to all insurance companies as part of anti-fraud measures, they can also check driving licence details

what they DONT do is check when you take out insurance, they WILL if you clam, then not pay up
