A firm round here is charging £330 per week rental for a motor. The drivers on there are stupid enough to pay it.

Muck fee, you can lease a new motor for that price! Per month!

does the office of that company have big wide windows, so they can see you coming?

Well if the drivers are earning enough to pay those fees, they must be VAT registered.

They aren't though. He takes a certain amount off them each week to process the contracts. The chap and his son who owns the firm is a tool. They don't charge extra after 11PM they run on T1 24/7

Assuming £330 is for the vehicle 24/7 and includes circuit fees, then that compares favourably for the going rate around here. Some drivers are on split bag but £380 is not uncommon.

The concern is if the driver only takes, say, £400 on the former he ends up with £70 for the week, with the latter its £380.

One lad last week earned £65 after he'd paid everything out, that was working 80 odd hours. He's canned them off and starts with us next week.
