Grrrr, rant....just settling down for a late lunch on Monday evening, a quiet day, not much around, when we get a call from a nearby town 4 miles away, an urgent call to take someone to Wittersham, some 20 miles each way. it was an emergency. A decent earner, yes. 8)

Dinner in the microwave for later, went to the pick up expecting to see someone in distress. After a couple of phone calls to the office, to his house etc. an older gent appears, "can you help me get her into the car"? :? Yes, no problem, expecting to see a similar aged lady needing assistance. But no, a "lady" a few years younger than this gent, totally blotto, couldn't even stand up straight, and in no fit state to travel.

It turns out the "emergency" was the fact she was blotto, there'd been a bit of a domestic and he wanted rid of her. He'd had a few to drink and didn't want to risk driving. What about payment? Oh, you want cash up front? Can you go via a cash machine? Well in that area there isn't one on the whole journey! No cash from either side, so quite how they expected me to take this drunken lummox free of charge I don't know. How I managed to remain polite was a test of my patience. Not even the offer of a fiver for my wasted 8 mile round trip to the pick-up! Pah. And re-heated dinner.

FWOT? effing waste of time.
