If an operator operates on the basis of sending the nearest driver available to a job (instead of preferring a select few drivers for the good earners) then it makes sense to me to have someway of being at that particular time and place for the regular jobs.

This makes sense to me as a new driver. It may work. It may not. But at least ill know!

As for your apprehension for this and any new ideas (it seems), comet incoming bro :)

say you drop at the ICC and call clear, you will take the next job the base gives you, BHX or LHR, you dont dictate where/what you do

That depends on the booking and dispatch system in place. If it is auto dispatch then when you call clear you are offered the next job for that plot in turn.

er....experience maybe? you refuse your next job and you wont last on any base and you wont have an ops licence to fall back on
