Can a council impose the ruling that drivers of a Hackney vehicle must have a badge from that council?

I have a Hackney licence issued by one council and the company I drive for is opening up in an adjacent district as well. If I need to drive a vehicle registered in the neighbouring district, on a not for hire basis, do I need a Hackney licence from that council, or will my original one suffice.

once plated a hackney carriage con only be driven by a driver who has a badge from the same council that licensed the vehicle.
So the answer is YES you do need a Hackney License from that Council.

You need a license for the vehicle you drive, and that's the same license no matter where you work.

IN effect you need do nothing.

But he wants to drive a vehicle plated by a different council to his badge. He doesn't want to drive his own vehicle in the other district.

I understand the need for the second badge IF I want to work in the second area, but what if I just need to run the car to the garage for servicing?

You still need a badge from the 2nd council otherwise everyone would use that excuse to get round the law.

I explained that to you in the first reply. No you can either except that you need the second badge or keep asking the same question. If you don't believe the answer given here can I suggest a more radical approach. Since it will be the second Council that will do the enforcement, RING THEIR LICENSING DEPARTMENT AND ASK.

Then he can't.
