If you're working for yourself, why do you need those? If you're working for a circuit, the circuit will rent you those at vast expense. A good AtoZ of the local area is a must.

In 2 weeks the schools break up for easter, they are off for 3 or 3 weeks during which time 1000's of cabs/hacks/PH will have less work, you have 5 weeks to source, insure and plate before the rush starts

Can you not just rent a plated car for a few months until you find the car you want to buy? instead of rushing around.

Just a thought

Driving for someone else is not a bad idea. I remember i have started like that becasue i hadn't had a car. It is far more cheaper for a beginner.

Stuff that is a must:

Android phone - Built in Sat Nav (google maps/navigation) for when you're starting out and for long jobs. Also invaluable during the quiet times as you can read books, browse the net/facebook, watch movies, etc.
Can of Oust - regularly needed for ridding the car from the smell of kebabs, BO, pooh, pee, etc.
A-Z - backup for Sat Nav as sometimes you could be in an area with no network coverage, phone playing up, etc

I must work with a unique circuit, cos it actually get busier when the schools break up.
