For the biggest Lichfield firm (City cars)

£155 a week  no part time option

for a CAR, all inc, £57 a day (but no charge for weekend?) . a 56 plate Octavia estate (almost £15,000 a year)

Thought the company I first worked for when I started minicabbing was high:

£150/week rent (one rate - open shift)
£200/week fully maintained/insured/plated Ford Galaxy (you take it home and can use privately)

Which is why I quickly got my operator's licence and own car, and started to find and doing my own work, rather than paying them £18,200 a year.

The thing is its not a big town, Tamworth is bigger (next LA) and (maybe due to competition) cars and base rents are lower

this guys £155/week when the only other firm in Lichfield (255255 cars) is £80/week with a 3 day £55 (Friday-Sunday all day) rent

(almost half for the week rate)

£270 for a car round here 24X7, add the fuel on top and you've got nearly £400 a week before you earn anything for yourself.

Then they usually throw you a regular school run to "pay" your base rent but nick 20% off the top of that too

when some councils post winning bids online for all to see its a bit daft to expect to get away with it
