To be honest, no positives, I'm afraid. Oh I know that people of religious faith do a lot of good around the world but I don't really think it has much to do with religion.

How can the stoning of apostates vary? It's either in the Qur'an, or it's not, and if it is, then surely the literal word of God should be obeyed by its followers, or it's not the word of God?

I can appreciate that religion "evolves" (interesting word, btw) but the literal word of God, transmitted down from this all seeing... all knowing... omnipotent presence should be timeless. Unless of course, God got it wrong, and now he as changed is mind about stoning apostates, but that's not what it said in the Qur'an. This is very much a human redaction and there are obviously a lot of Muslims, who agree with stoning apostates, so who got it right?

It looks as though, Allah has slipped on a religious banana skin, when transmitting his words to Mohammad?

However, now I normally post on fewer, taxi driver-related issues but the question of religion interests me, and it does seem to have an impact on picking up guide dogs and blind people.
