Apparently our enforcement team have been out this morning, sending cars home to be washed and valeted. It was raining at the time. Drivers were told that they had to present their cars to the Council by 4.00pm fully valeted or they would be suspended until it had been done.
My son washed one of ours and presented it only to be told that the outside was still not clean enough, like I said it was raining at the time. She also complained that there was a bit of dog hair in the front passenger footwell. We had just carried a guide dog.
We have pubs and clubs serving drunk people with alcohol, we have doormen selling hookey cigarettes and using their cars as unlicensed taxis and our enforcement team are checking for dirty cars in the rain. You couldn't make it up.
It's no wonder that owners and drivers are getting licensed by Rutland.

I'm in Spain. I will be back home tonight and discuss the matter with others over the weekend.

Yeah, I took one of my cars for its bi-annual check a few years ago, fully valeted, nice and clean, a bright sunny day. By the time I got to Folkestone, it had a thin layer of sand on it. The twunt at the council told me get it cleaned or she wouldn't pass it!! I told her the council should clean the dust off the roads and the farmer shouldn't be allowed t make dust when they cut hay, but still had to go to the car wash.

Your Enforcement Officers make ours look Saintly by comparison. Reasonableness and Common sense is still alive and Kicking with our chaps.

Mine failed because of a small dent under the sill - you could only see it from below if on a ramp or lying on your back on the ground with your head under the wheel arch. Council policy, no visible scratches or dents #-o

Once again, CCTV would stop all of these jobsworths from exercising their powers in an unreasonable and obstructive manner. :-|

You should compile a dossier with evidence in support of your claims that council officials are abusing their powers. :-|
