Are you exempt from the CC and bus lane rules if you are on a fare from outside London going into London. The cab in question is a Maidstone plated TX4 Hackney taxi on a job to the city area (in the CC zone) during the day. Job obviously started in Maidstone.

I'm not aware that the London regs state only Met licenc3ed taxis are allowed to use bus lanes etc. The road signs certainly don't convey that information.

try posting the question on Pepipoo, there's bound to be an expert on there who can help.

Working on the basis that a "bus" is any vehicle with more than 8 passenger seats (including 12-seat Land Rovers), then a "taxi" is what it says on the tin, a licenced hackney carriage irrespective of where it's licenced. But I may be wrong.

Actually you should have been charged, as your taxi isn't licensed under any English Act.

Otherwise any English and Welsh taxi is allowed to use any bus lanes where London taxis are permitted.

But as mentioned above, the congestion charge must be paid if you go in the CC zone. But I think weekends are free.

Yes that's right, CC is chargeable from 7am to 6pm Monday to Fridays.

All the signage says is taxis and busses only no mention of where the cab comes from.
One driver was sent a photo of him crossing one of the bridges where the sign stated taxis only, he emailed them a copy of his taxi licence and nothing more came of it

With all the hoo haa with EEC regs i.e everyone can work here there and everywhere, then there is nearly always a race card pulled if not allowed to do as say Skippy would be doing. I would find it very hard to believe that Boris/Whoever could enforce a prosecution appertaining to any EEC resi who drives a bona fide hackney carriage, bearing in mind "The Law" (especially EEC Law) will always trump "Bye Laws".
