Taxi engulfed by flames brings traffic to a standstill on the M25

Image
Flames: the cab was left completely damaged after the fire on the M25

A hackney cab caught alight while travelling along the M25 during rush hour this morning.

Traffic was brought to a standstill after the emergency services were called to the blaze in the Swanley, Kent, stretch of the motorway.

Police and the fire service were called to the blaze just after 7.20am this morning.

Firefighters remain at the scene and the motorway has not been closed, but the incident has caused severe delays for drivers commuting into London.

Drivers said they could see smoke billowing from several miles away.

Ant Bennett wrote on Twitter: “Not a great start to the day for cabbie. Everyone out safe though and police there already.”

I wonder if that was the R reg TX that was being delivered to Lincoln this weekend that "Konic" has bought as a replacement for his clapped out 02 reg TX? Shame if it is, only 77K on the clock
