No you pillock. When it was discovered that the plate had expired and it would have meant a new application for a vehicle that was outside the age policy for a new license we decided not to bother. :roll:

My even earlier comments also made it clear that at the time that the council spotted that the plate had expired, we were totally unaware that it had expired. Now stop trying to read into it what is not there.
As soon as we knew the plate had expired the car was removed from service. We knew we were in the wrong and apologised to the council. I cooperated fully with the licensing department and did not blame anyone but myself because it was my job to make sure that this sort of thing didn't happen. But because the license application was signed by my wife and it was not me driving, I am not the one being investigated by the council.

So if the scenario was that the car had to go for test at renewal as they do round here and it failed the test for whatever reason and subsequently passed a couple of weeks later waiting for parts, that would be treated as a renewal, not an expired plate.

Maybe they've sussed you for faecal agitation over their lack of enforcement on outsiders failing to display plates?

If the vehicle does not pass the test on time, even waiting for parts, then it would be a new application.

Not according to May EXETER CITY COUNCIL v SANDLE [2011]

But the judge said a matter of a day or so would be the exception.

FFS you can't really be this thick. We decided not to try to re-plate the car AFTER we were made aware that the plate had expired. If we had realised that the plate was due to expire we would have had the vehicle re-tested before it expired. Once we knew the plate had expired the car was taken off the road. It was not and has not been used as a hackney carriage from the moment that we knew the plate had expired. Is that clear enough. #-o
