Why don't you try getting together to open an office?

I'd say that if you have a dozen or so then you should be able to get going.

1) No.

2) Are you kidding?

£) A dozen drivers would need to find £200 each to fund an office.
To man an office 24/7 would cost a grand a week, minimum. Add on office rental, heat, light, rates, etc. I think we will give that a miss, but thanks for the input. Anyway I'm off to catch the sun, so bye bye for a week or two.

All I was suggesting was opening an office, not a mission to Mars

So I take it you're not to enamoured with the idea

You're talking nearly two and a half grand a week, surely it could be done for a lot less than that?

I think you're looking at a worst case scenario. For example, do you need to be open 24/7 in Lincoln?

Is there no chance of getting more than 12 drivers together?

I think many start up offices have the owners doing a shift each on the controls, and they maybe get wifes and relos to do a few shifts, maybe not paying them that much.

Six weeks into start up with Taxi Call, going VERY well, no bills, apart from £11:75 a MONTH, and advertising. This is the first time in several weeks I have posted on this site. Too busy I figure the negativity about this system is from PH Office owners who could lose HC owner drivers paying HOW MUCH!! a WEEK!!! send me a personal message if you want to know how easy it is to set up and run Taxi-Call, and free yourself from paying an office so much for so little. Taxi call will work in areas up to 100K population, and can be set up with from Two drivers to as many as you wish. Stuff the Office Barons, set up a virtual office, and work for you.

I'm really pleased it is going so well. :D :D

What do you do about jobs that are quite away from your ranks, but are going local.

Don't say you forward them to a PH firm. [-X

Oh and what do you think is the minimum number of drivers that you could work with?

I've always thought this could have worked, and there are many small areas/districts where it can.

The answer to your question is No, by the way.

Far from it, and if my wishes are answered then there will be a lot more taxi drivers and a lot less PH ones.

Now those new taxi drivers have an option open to them other than the ones they have at present.

The guys at Harrogate TOA love it, the PH people in Harrogate hate it, because the HC's dont need to pay them rent anymore.

Plus they dont have to pay wages for office staff etc.

It's always been my view, but I'm a great believer in that it should be the down to the driver to decide which, not a stupid out dated piece of flawed legislation.
