20% of what you earn. Where I work for now it's £110 regardless if you do a job. Some weeks are very quiet If it is quiet all we get is the on screen threat of a £10 fine for late payment. Like I say with Uber if you don't work you don't pay. At Metro Stockport if you want a Holiday you pay 50% tracl £55. I've just been to a Uber meeting in Manchester and I can honestly say It's everything a private hire company should be. The amount of on line information the driver has access to is second to none. I'll be joining as soon as I get my badge. You can only appreciate this if you've worked for the likes of Lynx and Metro in Stockport. They've had us by the balls for far top long. Eventually it will filter into South Manchester, it's a matter of time.
You actually get a £10 guaranteed hourly rate for busy times, so if you don't get a job during a busy period you get paid £10. Anyone thinking about joining go down and judge for yourself. I'm gutted I have to wait for my Manchester Badge.

£10 guaranteed for a busy period, when is that? I still prefer a £10 a week App

So would I !
However 20% of my weekly earnings is about £120, which is what I already pay to the company in rents. The difference is I have to pay the company regardless of what work I do, if I'm off sick, the cars in a garage for a couple of days, I'm on holiday or just fancy taking the night off. And it's £120 a week whether I take £600 or £100, or do 500 jobs or 100.

With an app system I'll only ever have to pay 20% of whatever jobs I do, and no dealing with silly company rules or greedy owners.

There is an app that charges £10 per week and is free while the work builds up so why would you pay 20% indefinitely?

The idea appeals to me but I don't want to be paying an app company 20% of my income thank you very much

It depends on what that income is.

I would sooner take 80% of a grand rather than 100% of £600.

In theory I guess the 80% sounds better but not if it takes more hours and miles to obtain. I prefer a simple fee eg £10 per week to app company.

I think it's fair to say that all of us sit around for far too long during our normal working hours, so we do have 'spare capacity' to fill.

If that 'spare capacity' was filled with 80% jobs, then surely it's win win.

So if that spare capacity enabled you to earn an extra £100 per week you'd prefer to pay £20 than £10 :?

I would be happy to pay £50.

I see why because you'd still be £40 better off but I'd rather be £80 better off

Obviously we'd all go for the app which provides the best jobs to cost ratio, ie costs the least and provides the most work. No use having an app that's free or costs 1% but only gives 1 job a week, likewise one that gives 500 jobs a week but takes a 90% would be pointless.

However eventually we'll end up with whatever app is the most popular, top of the istore chart or whatever, the more it's downloaded the more people end up using it and therefore that's the one that will give the most jobs - we'll have to go along with it regardless of cost, we won't decide the public will. Saying that each app will of course need a certain number of drivers to support it in each area otherwise punters won't get cabs no matter how popular the app.
