The law is there for everyone to obey, including the police. 8) Maybe his re-training should include the exemptions.

Our driver went down to the police station this morning and it seems that once a notice of intended prosecution has been issued, it can't be stopped. Now I am minded to tell these drivers to let the matter go to court and make the police look stupid.

I agree and watch him get a telling off from the magistrate, it will look good in the melton local rag.

I have just had a look at the Leicestershire police website and it is even on there about taxi drivers being exempt whilst working and private hire whilst a passenger is on board. =D> =D> =D>

my DBS doesn't even include driving convictions. in any case, these drivers have done absolutely nothing wrong.

Wait for the NIP and appeal on the back of it.

Then complain to the Chief Constable.

All sorts of info stays on police intel. I'm still on there for helping out in the Miners' Strike. A bus driver I used to employ was once accused of a sexual offence with an adult; the charge was withdrawn but it's still on his intel record as being watched.

"The System" may be a bit more careful about what it reveals after ECHR intervention a few years back, but rest assured it'll still be on record somewhere.
