We clearly have a problem. And this needs to be discussed.
There is one single over-arching problem - that is the whole machinery of political correctness, that inhibits our most fundamental of rights - ie Freedom of Speech. If I was in charge I would restore complete freedom of speech and expression - that includes racism and anti-Scottish diatribes. BECAUSE freedom of speech is far more important than any one person's viewpoint. So I may get offended, but the idiots who issue these mindless remarks will be seen for what they are.
But those who have a VALID point to raise will have a VOICE. Yes the Asian community DOES have a problem within its menfolk. There IS a disproportionate number of Asian men involved in despicable crimes against young vulnerable white women. They need to address that problem - and it needs to be raised publicly to the level of public debate. It is a great shame upon their communities, and I am sure the vast majority of them will want to put a stop to this problem.
And as for the woman who requested a white or female cab driver - she should be PROTECTED by law not PROSECUTED by it - that goes along with freedom of speech - ie FREEDOM OF CHOICE.
The laws of this land need massive reform - so many trivial laws take away our freedoms and choices and persecute us for our legitimate concerns. All the while serious crimes against the vulnerable go completely unchecked. And as you say how notable it is that enforcing political correctness within the population is a first class priority of police, social workers, teachers, and the establishment as a whole and YET when it comes to protecting some poor kid being abused horrifically, where the signs of injuries or starvation are clearly visible, incredibly the aforesaid do absolutely NOTHING to help that kid - it is disgusting beyond measure.
As cab drivers we should be Knights of the Road, not lowlifes, and we need to eliminate these scumbags from our trade and restore our good reputation - these scandals are damaging to us and will cause negative opinions and attitudes to form towards us.
As regards the race issue I could not look the educated Christian Nigerian blackguy I know in the eye and say or think anything offensively racist against him. Or the local Pakistani guy in his shop and his family - they have been decent with me - what you give is what you get returned. And yes there are a lot of differences - but we could learn from them and they could learn from us.
As far as these pervs whisking drunk women off and raping them - we could also reflect on why we have a society with so many drunk women wandering around not knowing what they're doing? Why do we in this country worship the demon drink so much? And particularly it afflicts many women today with the plague of bogus 'feminism' and self-centered self-indulgence. And why are there so many youngsters growing up in unstable families and homes - again that is due to self-indulgent lifestyles, a society losing its moral compass, influenced by the ever flowing gutter of television and film and newsprint.
We have to carry the can for our misdemeanors - and now is the time for the Muslim community to face this problem, not scream racism. We are not being racist against them - we are saying they have a problem in their communities and it needs to be solved URGENTLY.
That's a pretty balance piece Handyman, I can agree with the above.
