Dollis Hill minicab driver convicted of assaulting traffic warden in Willesden Green

A minicab driver has been found guilty of beating up a traffic warden as he tried to ticket his car in Willesden Green.

Harrow Crown Court heard Sajid Shafi, of Gladstone Park Gardens, Dollis Hill, punched the worker twice on the nose and wrestled with him before driving off in Station Parade on January 31 this year.

After the 46-year-old sped off he returned to the scene and began to racially abuse his victim even though the police were present.

After he was arrested he was found in possession with a small quantity of cannabis and subsequently charged with racially aggravated common assault and possession of a controlled class B drug.

Earlier this week he was convicted of common assault after a four day trial.

He will be sentenced on September 26.

PC Ama Uppal, investigating officer, said: “Brent Police actively pursue all allegations of crime and this conviction shows that those engaged in crime will be bought to justice.”
