As has been previously explained to you, the Council’s procedures are compliant with the European Convention on Human Rights and the Human Rights Act 1998 and there has been no breach or contravention in respect of your treatment by the Council, consequently the answer to your second question is no.

Terence Higgins - 3rd October 2014

A bold claim, except there is no proof of this.

Higgins is making a claim the council can't substantiate.

So, when a taxi driver was fined two weeks wages for taking a leak which caused a tram to be stopped during its trial, and she was:

- not informed of her rights under the interrogation process

- nor that she could have legal representation when interrogated by Higgins

- and she was then taken before councillors in a secret meeting of which their is no public record

- and when her case was considered by councillors with no legal training

- and she was not informed about her rights under the hearing process

- and she was sentenced to a fixed period temporary suspension which is not part of the governing legislation (CG(S)A 1982)

- and the sentence handed down conformed to no precedents, benchmarks or recognised consistent standards which would accord her right to equality before the Law enshrined in Human Rights

How can Higgins make any reasonable claim that any of this disgusting abuse possibly conforms with an individual's Human Rights?

Perhaps anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who has been dragged before City of Edinburgh's kangaroo court and who was advised of their rights at the outset of the process which led to their licence being taken from them would come to the council's defence and explain to us all how their rights were protected?

Remember, the next one to face this abusive process could be

YOU!
