that's a good point

It is a good point. And while these religious nutters have always been in the background, the likes of Saddam and Assad kept the lid on them. Our foreign policy of interfering with dictators has been our undoing. In fact, we should have sold them more weapons of oppression and let them get on with killing their own people because they obviously knew the danger.

I now see the regime in Saudi Arabia in a completely different light.

It's easy with hindsight, but I too was seduced into supporting Bush Senior's assault on Iraq. I justify it because Saddam Hussein overran Kuwait. He had to be driven back.

Bush and Bliar's takeover of Iraq however was always wrong. And it was only about the oil wealth the US was becoming nervous about supply. The first act after takeover was to take away the oil contracts from the French, and reallocated them to US interests. Blair went along with this, his reward presumably the millions he's harvested on the US public speaking circuit that has made him a multi-millionaire.

Truth is, Saddam was doing us all a favour by keeping a lid on the nutters in the Islamic world who want everything Slul has described.

We should have left well alone. Same with Libya. Same with Syria.

There has to now be an argument that says we should be supporting Assad to keep the nutters down.

Good points there Jasbar, Saddam IMO hated Islam and that was his reason for invading Kuwait back in the 90's. He did his best to keep them at bay like Gadaffi in Lybia and Assad in Syria.

This new trouble in Turkey has proved that they're on the side of IS.

I'm not so sure, while Turkey is, for the most part, an Islamic nation they are westernised to the extent that ISIS would be in their sawing people’s heads off and trying to remove the government.

Turkey doesn't want any of that shi* any more than we do.

Fort Knox is not the biggest gold depository in the USA though.

Well I guess if he could have known what it's value would be in 2011 I guess it was a low price but it certainly wasn't an all time low it's been lower  That said as I pointed out it still didn't lose us as much as the sale of Royal Mail did

That's not strictly true either, the old gold standard has well gone. We use other things as value not just gold. Skull if you're wondering what this has to do with this thread, I guess very little other than money is the route of all evil, that's the best I can come up with

That's not very nice is it, but, as usual it doesn't take long for you to get wound up and throw your toys out of your pram and start name calling if a thread doesn't go the way you want it to. Never mind you'll be able to start another thread on the same subject so you can beat us all about the head with your opinion because lets be honest it's only your opinion you want us to read. You have the audacity to talk about me, me, me you flamin drama queen

And that's your opinion becasue you lack the wit to engage in a proper debate about a serious subject. So if I were you toots, I would stick to the simple stuff. Start a thread about women's shoes or something. #-o #-o #-o #-o
