Something you should know about the Military-Industrial Complex, Gusmac. Yes, weapons developers and contractors like Blackwater, K.B.R.-Halliburton, CACI and Titan can make fortunes out of going to war but wars cost money and this actually wipes billions of pounds off the wealth of a nation. Oh and in case you haven't notice, Britain and America are not in good financial shape, people are struggling, especially now after the Financial crisis of 2007–08 and the recession. Not even America and Britain can go to war indefinitely. And dropping bombs and firing missiles costs money and even more so boots on the ground, and therein lies the problem, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi wants to engage the west in attrition warfare.

In short, Al-Baghdadi builds his Islamic State by recruiting fighters and forcing the west to spend shed loads of cash chasing him and his band of lunatics all over the Middle East.

Al-Baghdadi isn’t planning to defeat America and coalition forces by engaging in conventional warfare, he plans to outlast the ba*tards, while spreading his spawn all over the globe.

Oh and Gus, you were perfectly correct about the CIA training and recruiting fighters for their Al-Qaeda database and proxy wars throughout the Middle East but ISIS is a monster the west has created and it’s completely out of control. :-|

Watch this space - the minute coalition troops hit the ground, ISIS will change tactics and there will be Improvised Explosive devices (IED’s) in every building, road and dirt track in the place. You can't win a war like this. :-|

I agree but what we are talking about here is Islamic terrorism and it's been going on for centuries all over North Africa and the Middle East. Yes, the west has made things far worse by meddling in other countries affairs but let's not kid our ourselves on, that we created it. :-|

hmmmm where in my post did I say, "Muslims kill people differently"? :?

"is this a brown thing" only if you want it to be but I fail to see the connection, other than the geography of the Islamic faith's origins but whatever floats your boat ? :?

So the fact that, Al-Baghdadi has made it abundantly clear, that if you don't believe, what he believes, he's prepared to kill you, to prove his faith in Islam and the prophet Muhammad and ultimately in Allah but you think this is a race issue. :?

How exactly? :?

And my service in the British Army did actually have one merit, I got a marksman badge with one of these;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L1A1_Self-Loading_Rifle

pretty cool, and so much more effective than the now standard issue SA80 :wink:

My son's SA80 has an under-slung grenade launcher. And he's says the yanks in Camp Bastion loved this type of weapon and wished they had. Although, he also said you soon fall out of love with it when humping the bas*ard around in 40 degree heat. :)

IMO the rifle is too short - stick a bayonet on the end of it and tbh you come second - found it really strange of the MOD to go away from an accurate, proven weapon, to a smaller calibre, smaller length rifle. The tradition of the army was always one of accurate shooting - I don't think you can achieve that with the SA80 over the SLR.

Hey ho - If I had one I would guarantee ISIS would come no where near Chesterholm :lol:

I think the reasoning behind the move from the 7.62 calibre round of the SLR to the 5.56 calibre round of the SA80 is because if you use the 7.62 round the chances are that you will kill the target and that will be that. But with the smaller 5.56 round you are much more likely to injure or maim the target. The injured target will require at least 2 other soldiers to remove the casualty from the battlefield thus for each injured person, 3 are removed from the battlefield where as if the target is killed outright then only that one will be off the battlefield.

Maybe - I was basically told in basic training that we would be fighting the warsaw pact countries and they used the 7.62 - if we were short of bullets we could nick theirs. :lol:
